Grading Yellow Diamonds
From Light Yellow to Fancy Vivid
While most diamonds are graded on how colorless or white they are, some diamonds have a natural and distinct hue that may be yellow, pink, blue or green to name a few. These diamonds are known as fancy-colored diamonds. Unlike colorless or white diamonds which are valued upon how white they are, fancy colored diamonds are valued upon how intense their saturation of color is. The simplified scale below represents how a fancy yellow diamond would be graded. The scale starts at fancy light yellow and moves toward fancy vivid yellow as the saturation of color intensifies.
